Inspired by the subtle beauty of Hawaii's official state gem, Black Coral, the newest sunglass design by Maui Jim®, debuts in eyewear stores this week. Black Coral is part of the company’s line of full-frame metal styles and features Maui Jim’s patented PolarizedPlus®2 lens technology in a stylish and contemporary package.
Black Coral will appeal to consumers with a variety of interests, but all have one thing in common - the need for an outstanding, versatile pair of sunglasses. Each frame is crafted from durable and resilient Monel metal with anti-corrosive nickel/silver spring hinges and adjustable, non-slip Rabalon nose pads. Available in matte black and matte espresso, the acetate temples feature a high-gloss, dark shell-like finish.
Black Coral’s lenses are made from ST (SuperThin) Glass that is 20 percent thinner and lighter than conventional laminated polarized lenses. ST Glass also is scratch-resistant and optically clear. Each lens features seven layers of proprietary PolarizedPlus2 protection to cut glare by 99.9 percent from above, below and behind the lens and to eliminate 100 percent of UV rays. The company’s unique, bi-gradient mirror technology enhances protection from light through the top and bottom of each lens – basically, the glasses "squint" for the user. Black Coral lenses come in two colors: Neutral Grey for bright, sunny days and HCL® Bronze for variable light conditions.
